Requirements
Riders will receive and must fully complete the rider packet and include a $35 registration/processing fee prior to the participation in the Vinceremos Therapeutic Riding Center program. We at Vinceremos Therapeutic Riding Center, Inc. are associated with and follow the guidelines of North American Riding for the Handicapped Association. We therefore want to ensure all areas are covered thoroughly.

Within the packet you will find a physician's release page that is accompanied by a Precautions and Contraindications page. This page must be marked by the physician if any listed conditions are of concern with the applying rider. The degree of the condition must also be indicated. Please mark all other lines to ensure no blanks. Mark "non-applicable" to any that apply. Blanks not filled in will need to be completed prior to the riders’ participation.

There may be conditions that are contraindicated for riding that may not be noted by your physician. It is our primary concern to ensure all riding participants can be assisted safely and will not receive harmful effects from riding. We strictly follow NARHA's guidelines in making these determinations. We at VTRC also need to operate within our safety limits when assisting riders.

NARHA guidelines limit a rider's weight to 200 lbs. or less. Other contraindication examples are spinal fusion and Herrignton rods. Specifics to the individual applying can be discussed once the application is received.

Scheduling a lesson time is dependent upon the needs of the rider, the availability of volunteers, the rider's schedule, etc. Specific volunteers will be scheduled to assist your rider. It is important that you notify us in advance if you need to cancel a lesson. We will then in turn notify your assigned volunteers. Lessons will be cancelled only if extenuating circumstances arise. If it is raining, the lesson will be moved to the barn for educational activities.

The operating days of the program are Tuesday through Saturday. Riding lessons are sporadic throughout the day. A printed schedule is available that indicates session dates and fees. Refer to the schedule and registration dates for new and returning riders. All riders must be scheduled by the registration date to ensure a riding slot.

Preferred riding attire is pants (something comfortable to the rider) and a shoe or boot with a heel. Shirts and pants should be modest. All riders must wear ASTM-SEI helmets. These helmets are available on the property for use by all riders.
